The Search for The Beautiful in Chianti: Julia
-
To her friends she is Julia and also to others. Julia’s surname is Scartozzoni but one has the sense that she is just Julia, because this is the idea she has of herself, that of being a friend to herself and to the world. One day Julia started to paint but then it wasn’t enough for her, so she became interested in the restructuring of interiors and began an activity which did not exist in traditional professions. It was the result of her own creative imagination. It is not surprising therefore that we see her in the role of a refined craftswoman painting materials and precious fabrics, almost always with floral patterns in a fine style. Immediately afterwards, we see her taking a wad and sketching an initial idea for an interior decoration on which she is working. Julia is a designer, meaning that she is a woman with a marked personal taste, a versatile personality. Until a few years ago, she was also a talented chef and in this field too, she applied her inquisitive and imaginative inclinations, thanks to which she added a different touch to even the most traditional Tuscan dishes.
Her small farmhouse in Borgo Argenina, a hamlet near Monti in Chianti, is a jewel. It is the most beautiful present she has given herself. It is impregnated with the taste of a woman who needs to make her overflowing vitality felt through a colorful, rich style. Her studio, on the contrary in the old barn, is more harmonious, with a sophisticated sense for the essential. When she receives her guests at home, she communicates her femininity with a warm, cozy and somewhat coquettish interior. When she enters her studio, she tries to be less like Julia and more open to others. We can imagine her alone in her studio with the big table, tubes of acrylic paint and a terrace with large window panes looking onto the Chianti, painting fabrics and planning the interiors of farmhouses in the same spirit as those who are trying to grasp something they do not yet understand but that is already deep down inside them, something lively and elusive like her life that never stands still.
